The University of Minnesota is home to the NCAA Minnesota Golden Gophers football team. Tim Brewster is in his second year as the Golden Gophers head coach as of 2008. Minnesota plays their home games to a crowd of 50,300 at the TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers are in The Big Ten Conference and hold 18 conference titles with 6 National Championship Titles under their belt. Their team colors are maroon and gold and their team mascot is Goldy Gopher. Rivals of the Golden Gophers are Iowa Hawkeyes, Wisconsin Badgers, Michigan Wolverines and the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The Golden Gophers played their last game in Memorial Stadium in 1981. They have been playing their home games in Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. They get to move back to campus in their new TCF Bank Stadium in 2009.
